Update on Tina Peters
Tina Peters has been moved to La Vista Correctional Facility in Pueblo, Colorado, where she faces unfair and harsh treatment. Tina is a lung cancer survivor nearing 70 years old, she suffers from back spasms, fibromyalgia, and arthritis. Despite her health struggles, she’s forced to wash dishes for over eight hours a day without a chance to sit, worsening her pain. In a recent audio call, she shared how she sought help from the facility’s nurse for a treatment plan but was brushed off with attitude and disrespect. In an audio recording, Tina described abysmal jail conditions: inmates report rats and roaches in the kitchen, and showers and sinks are covered in over an inch of black mold. Tina suspects this is harming her health and others’, with one inmate hospitalized for lung issues.
Call to Action
Demand justice for Tina. Contact Governor Jared Polis at (303) 866-2471 or governorpolis@state.co.us to urge her release and an investigation into La Vista’s conditions. Send a message to all of Congress below! Act now.
Tina Peters, former Mesa County Clerk, is unjustly imprisoned for protecting 2020 election records as required by federal law. Her efforts to preserve data before a risky software update led to voting system information being shared online, resulting in a biased Mesa County court convicting her on seven counts, including four felonies, with a nine-year sentence. The Colorado courts recently ruled in favor of the Department of Justice (DOJ), rejecting objections from the Colorado Attorney General and Secretary of State. This allows the DOJ to investigate Tina’s prosecution under President Trump’s “Ending the Weaponization of the Federal Government” executive order. The investigation, citing her harsh sentence and First Amendment issues, could lead to her freedom, offering hope against a corrupt system.
