Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei, broke his silence on Monday hours after Iran’s attack on a U.S. base in Qatar.
He posted a photo of a burning American flag in an area being bombarded by aerial attacks.
“We did not attack anyone. And we do not accept anyone’s attack. And we will not surrender to anyone’s attack; This is the logic of the Iranian nation,” he said on X:

This comes after Iran launched 10 missiles toward US bases in Qatar on Monday afternoon, shortly after Qatar closed its airspace on Monday.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs later confirmed all missiles were successfully intercepted — and, crucially, no American lives were lost.
It was reported that Iran coordinated the attack with Qatari officials for symbolic purposes. It appears to have been a performative show of strength in their own country, but the situation is still unclear.
The response, President Trump later said, was “very weak,” but “they’ve gotten it all out of their ‘system,’ and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE.” He added, “I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured,” calling on Iran and Israel to “proceed to peace and harmony.”
Khamanei’s X post came about an hour before the President’s confirmation that they coordinated the attack and gave the U.S. “early notice.”
