The Republican Party continues to expand its base as President Trump continues to deliver on his America-first agenda. Last night, a prominent former sheriff became the latest to join Trump’s party.
Former Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, who served in office from 2018 to 2022, was a speaker at an event in the LA-area on Saturday when he called the attention of the cameramen in attendance because he was about to break some big news.
“If you have cameras, get’em rolling,” Villanueva said. “As of today, I’m leaving the party of paid protests, purple hair, and pronouns.”
The crowd laughed and clapped upon hearing this, because that is precisely what the Democratic Party is. But Villanueva was not done.
He was also going to rub salt in the wound and join the GOP and Trump!
“And I’m joining the party of faith, family, and freedom,” he continued.
“It’s time to make California purple again!”

The California GOP responded by immediately welcoming Villanueva to Team Red with open arms.

Villanueva’s departure from the Democratic Party should not come as a total shock, considering his X feed is full of posts lambasting the California Governor Gavin Newsom, LA Mayor Karen Bass, his successor as LA County Sheriff Robert Luna, and many more leftists.
If Republicans hope to make California competitive again, more moderate Democrats will need to wise up and realize that their party has gone completely off the deep end. Let’s hope Villanueva’s switch is only the start.
