Five NFL Teams Declined Moment of Silence for Charlie Kirk, Each Celebrated George Floyd

With Week 2 of the NFL winding down, five home teams refused to sponsor a moment of silence for murdered conservative activist Charlie Kirk, even though each of them held memorials, made statements, and donated money in honor of convicted drug user George Floyd.

About half the teams playing over Week 2 did hold a moment of silence for Kirk, but five games were noticeably missing among that list.

By the time Sunday ended, five home teams had skipped the moment of silence that the NFL had authorized. Those teams included the Baltimore Ravens, who faced the Cleveland Browns at M&T Bank Stadium, the Cincinnati Bengals, who played the Jacksonville Jaguars at Paycor Stadium, the Detroit Lions, who took on the Chicago Bears, the Indianapolis Colts going up against the Denver Broncos at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the Minnesota Vikings who battled the Atlanta Falcons at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Each of these teams held moments of silence or other memorials for convicted criminal and drug addict George Floyd back in 2020.

  • The Ravens participated in what was called a National Day of Mourning in June of 2020.
  • The Bengals locked arms in solidarity against supposed “racial injustice.”
  • The Detroit Lions released a statement honoring George Floyd and had multiple events in his name.
  • The Colts also made statements, donated money, and held events in honor of Floyd.
  • The Vikings created scholarships in Floyd’s name, invited Floyd’s family to opening day, and multiple Vikings players had team-sponsored visits to the George Floyd memorial.

But none of these teams found it in their hearts to celebrate patriot, family man, and Christian Charlie Kirk after a left-winger brutally assassinated him.

So far, two teams have tried to explain themselves. The Colts claimed they already had a moment of silence planned for Forrest Lucas, the founder of the oil company their stadium is currently named for. And the Vikings said they had already planned to memorialize the victims of the Annunciation Church & School shooting in Minneapolis.

The other teams have not replied to requests for a comment.
