Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is undoubtedly plotting a 2028 presidential run, made his intentions known on Friday, calling on Vice President JD Vance to name a time and place for a debate.
This came in response to a news conference Vance held yesterday in Los Angeles amid the ongoing riots that the Trump Administration has sent thousands of National Guard troops and hundreds of Marines to quash.
Newsom is letting his city burn and attempted to stop Trump’s federalization of National Guard troops with a lawsuit. This won’t help his chances in the next presidential election.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Vance trolled Senator Alex Padilla, who was detained and forcibly removed from a recent press conference after he interrupted DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s remarks and accosted her. Vance reporters on Friday, “I was hoping José Padilla would be here to ask a question, but unfortunately, he decided not to show up.”

It’s unclear whether he was trolling by calling him José, or it was a mistake, but the left lost their minds.
Newsom, LA Mayor Karen Bass, and other leftists began attacking Vance as disrespectful or a racist.
Newsom seized on the opportunity to imply nefarious intent, declaring the potential gaffe “is not an accident.”

Newsom later taunted Vance on X after he slammed the governor for egging on the violent rioters in Los Angeles.
“Since you’re so eager to talk about me, how about saying it to my face?” Newsom said.
“Let’s debate. Time and place?”
Hey @JDVance — nice of you to finally make it out to California.
Since you’re so eager to talk about me, how about saying it to my face?
Let’s debate. Time and place?

This is reminiscent of Newsom’s failed 2023 debate with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. DeSantis ended Newsom’s presidential ambitions with just two hot shots.
In one takedown, Desantis pulled out an image of a “poop map,” showcasing the severity of San Francisco’s homelessness and public pooping epidemic. DeSantis also told the story of a Californian man who moved to Florida for better governance, and it was Gavin Newsom’s father in law!
Imagine Newsom’s record of encouraging violence and rioting in the streets of California and sheltering illegal aliens against the Trump Administration sending troops in to protect American citizens.
Too easy.
