Barstool Sports podcaster Kirk Minihane took aim at the American “extreme right” and his own boss on Thursday, calling both “the biggest group of p*ssies” for defending the suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.
As Breitbart News reported on Wednesday, ABC, Disney, and broadcast affiliate Nexstar are pulling Jimmy Kimmel “from all of their stations” after he suggested the assassin of conservative activist Charlie Kirk may be affiliated with MAGA despite evidence indicating he was influenced by left-wing ideologies. Nexstar said Kimmel’s comments were “offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse,” adding it would like to “move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue.”
There is no evidence to suggest that Kirk’s alleged killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, is a Trump supporter.
While much of the online debate surrounding Kimmel’s suspension centered around issues of “cancel culture,” Barstool President Dave Portnoy stressed that he doesn’t see ABC’s decision to can Kimmel in that way. Instead, he sees it as an example of “consequences for your actions.”
This did not sit well with one of Portnoy’s employees and frequent verbal sparring partner, Kirk Minihane.
“Right now, in 2025, at 10:06 on September 18th, the extreme right are the biggest group of pussies that has ever existed in America,” Minihane said. “A bunch of — because people with green hair at Starbucks, and because once in a while, a fucking guy swam against girls. You fucking pussies have broken in half — led by the duo of Donald Trump and ‘consequence culture’ Portnoy, who is just waving his arms at the right to like him again after the thing last week where he said it was Trump’s fault, privately and publicly, that Charlie Kirk died. Now, he’s like, ‘I gotta get them back, I gotta get them back, I gotta get them back.’”
Minihane added, “Typical. I will say, fits the tribe profile.”
Minihane, who famously engaged in a shouting match with Portnoy over how the latter handled Jewish jokes, believes that Portnoy’s reaction to Kimmel is yet another sign of his boss turning against comedy and joke-telling.
Kimmel was suspended after making the following comments Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was, uh, grieving on Friday − the White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this.”
The show then cut to a clip of Trump being asked about how he was feeling following the death of Kirk. During the answer, Trump also touched on the construction of a new White House ballroom.
Kimmel then lashed out at Trump.
“Yes, he’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction. Demolition, construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend; this is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?” Kimmel said.
While the joke involving the goldfish was certainly tasteless, that’s not necessarily anything new for Kimmel. The decision to suspend the late-night host was made, at least as much, because Kimmel spread misinformation by accusing Kirk’s alleged killer of being a Trump supporter.
As stated above, there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that Robinson is a Trump supporter.
So, whether Portnoy is a fan of jokes or not, Kimmel still committed a suspension-worthy offense by lying about the facts to millions of people. Or, in the case of Kimmel’s audience, thousands of people.
