Vice President J.D. Vance reaffirmed the Trump administration’s immigration stance, stating that no amnesty will be granted to those who entered the country illegally. In a series of clear and firm remarks, Vance outlined the government’s approach: uphold the law, protect national economic interests, and seek technological solutions to labor challenges.
“We’re not going to tell people who entered illegally that they can break our laws and be rewarded for it. We’re just not going to do that,” Vance said during an interview on Wednesday.
The Vice President acknowledged that certain sectors, such as agriculture, have voiced legitimate concerns about labor shortages. However, he emphasized that there are viable alternatives to address that issue without compromising immigration laws.
“When we talk to agricultural industries and others who say they need labor, our answer is: there are many ways to solve those problems. My favorite solution is automation,” he added.
Vance stressed that the American agricultural economy is behind when it comes to using new technologies, and now is the time to push for a digital transformation in rural sectors. For him, automation is not just a response to the labor gap but also an opportunity to modernize production and reduce reliance on irregular labor.
Despite his tough stance on amnesty, Vance clarified that the administration is aware of the need to support key sectors of the national economy. “We want American industries to thrive,” he said, emphasizing that President Trump aims to strike a balance between enforcing the law and supporting economic growth.
