Dodgers Relief Pitcher Blake Treinen Honors Charlie Kirk on the Mound

Some players have taken it upon themselves to pay tribute to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk. One of those players is Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen.

During Friday night’s game against the archrival San Francisco, Treinen took the mound in the ninth inning with “Charlie Kirk” written on the side of his hat with a cross on each side.

Kirk, 31, was murdered by an assassin’s bullet as he spoke at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. The founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and husband and father of two died from his wounds at a local Utah hospital.

Treinen has been outspoken about his Christian beliefs. In 2023, he spoke out against the Dodgers’ decision to honor the anti-Catholic group the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, reminding his team that “God cannot be mocked.”

“I am disappointed to see the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence being honored as heroes at Dodger Stadium,” Treinen wrote in a statement released by a friend on social media. “Many of their performances are blasphemous, and their work only displays hate and mockery of Catholics and the Christian faith.”

Kirk’s assassin, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested for Kirk’s murder.

“Utah Gov. Spencer Cox stated during a press conference Friday morning that a family member of Robinson’s contacted a family friend, who then reached out to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office ‘with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident,’” Fox News reported.
